Shahjahanpur, August 24, 2026:
Under the able guidance of Dr. Dharmendra Kumar Gupta, Professor & Head, Department of Community Medicine, Varun Arjun Medical College & Rohilkhand Hospital, Banthra, Shahjahanpur, successfully conducted a series of activities under the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat-Sankalp Abhiyaan” from August 21 to August 24, 2026.
The initiative was undertaken under the guidance of the Higher Education Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, with the objective of creating awareness among young people regarding the harmful effects of substance abuse and promoting a healthy, productive and drug-free society.
As part of the campaign, health awareness and health talks on tobacco and alcohol addiction were conducted at the Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC) on August 21 and at the Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC) on August 22. The sessions also included a pledge against drug abuse, with active participation from interns and postgraduate students.
On August 24, a banner display and awareness activity was organized at the College Main Gate, involving faculty members, postgraduate students, interns and MBBS students. A collective pledge against drug abuse was also administered at the Department of Community Medicine.
An essay writing competition was conducted at LT-5 to encourage students to express their views on substance abuse, its harmful consequences and the importance of maintaining a drug-free society.
As another important component of the campaign, complaint and information boxes regarding the Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat-Sankalp Abhiyaan were installed at the Boys’ and Girls’ Hostels. The initiative provided students with an accessible mechanism for sharing concerns and obtaining information related to substance abuse and prevention.
The programme was coordinated under the supervision of Dr. Aditya Prakash Singh, who served as the moderator. The activities witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, interns, postgraduate students and faculty members.
The members present during the programme included Dr. Ajay Agrawal, Dr. Yogesh Arora , Dr. Atul saxena,and Dr. Charandeep Singh Dua, who actively participated in the awareness activities and supported the campaign’s objective of promoting a drug-free campus.
The successful completion of the campaign reinforced the message that a drug-free youth is essential for a healthy society and a developed India.
