A program on “Patient Safety 2025” was organized on the Occasion of World Safety Day with great enthusiasm and seriousness on September 17, 2025, at the Varun Arjun Medical College & Rohilkhand Hospital, under the Varun Arjun University, Banthra-Shahjahanpur.
The main objective of the program was to give top priority to patient safety in healthcare services and to spread awareness on this topic among the medical community.
The event began with the inaugural address by the Honorable Dean and Principal of Varun Arjun Medical College & Rohilkhand Hospital, Dr. (Col.) R. N. Shukla. He stated that ” The patient safety training should be imparted to students from the very beginning of their medical education”.
Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Amit Kumar Singh spoke on the importance of patient safety, saying, “Patient safety is not just a rule or a procedure; it is the moral duty of every healthcare worker.” Following him, Dr. Avinash Lukade, Head of the Department of Pediatrics, shared his views specifically on child safety. He said, “The safety of pediatric patients must be a top priority because children cannot express their pain and discomfort themselves and thus pediatrics department always requires extra vigilance. Deputy Nursing Superintendent Ms. Punjika Shukla highlighted the importance of patient safety from a nursing perspective. She said that “Every nurse should understand that they are not just doing a job, but performing the most sacred act of human service.” Hospital Quality Manager Dr. Shivani Gupta then shared her thoughts on hospital management and quality standards. She said, “Patient safety is not just the responsibility of doctors and nurses; it is the collective responsibility of the entire institution. Administrative Officer Mr. Lalit Kumar Chauhan concluded the speaking session by sharing his thoughts. He said, “The greatest asset of any hospital is the trust of its patients, and this trust is maintained only when patients feel secure about their safety.”
The program was coordinated under the guidance of Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Amit Kumar Singh and Administrative Officer Mr. Lalit Kumar Chauhan.
The special attendees included Medical Superintendent Dr. P. S. Pawar, H.O.D. of Pathology Dr. Raja Chatterjee, H.O.D. of Community Medicine Dr. Dharmendra Gupta, Professor of Obst. and Gynecology Dr. Nilesh Doshi, and other respected teachers. A large number of nursing staff and students also contributed to the success of the event.
Thus, the “Patient Safety 2025” program, held at Varun Arjun Medical College & Rohilkhand Hospital was highly successful and inspiring. The event proved that the ultimate goal of medical science is not just to cure a disease, but to protect the patient’s safety and dignity.
