Varun Arjun University observed National Voters’ Day 2026 with a pledge-taking ceremony on 24th January aimed at promoting electoral awareness and responsible citizenship. The programme was conducted across the constituent colleges of the university at Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, with active and enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members.
National Voters’ Day is celebrated annually on 25 January to commemorate the foundation day of the Election Commission of India. The observance seeks to encourage informed, ethical, and inclusive participation in the electoral process, particularly among young and first-time voters, while reinforcing the significance of voting as a cornerstone of a vibrant democracy.
At Varun Arjun Medical College & Rohilkhand Hospital (VAMC & RH), the National Voters’ Day Pledge was administered by Dr. R. N. Shukla, Dean & Principal. He highlighted voting as a fundamental democratic right and an essential civic duty, emphasizing the responsibility of educated youth and healthcare professionals to uphold democratic values through informed and ethical participation in elections.
At Varun Arjun College of Pharmacy (VACP), the pledge was led by Dr. Pradeep Singh, Principal, along with faculty members. Students were urged to exercise their franchise responsibly and to motivate others in society to participate actively in the democratic process. The pledge reaffirmed a collective commitment to free, fair, and peaceful elections, voting without fear or inducement, and upholding the ideals enshrined in the Constitution of India.
The event was organized under the guidance and patronage of the university management, comprising Dr. Keshav Agarwal, Chancellor, Varun Arjun University; Dr. Ashok Agarwal, Pro-Chancellor, Varun Arjun University; Dr. Kiran Agarwal, Vice-Chancellor, Varun Arjun University; and Dr. Lata Agarwal, Vice-Chancellor, BIU, who in their message emphasized that a strong and progressive democracy depends on the active participation of informed and responsible citizens. They encouraged students to value their right to vote as a powerful instrument of positive change and nation-building, and reiterated the university’s commitment to promoting constitutional values, civic awareness, and social responsibility through education and community-oriented initiatives.
The observance served as an important platform to sensitize young voters about their civic responsibilities and the transformative power of their vote in strengthening democratic institutions.
