The Department of Community Medicine, Varun Arjun Medical College & Rohilkhand Hospital (VAMC&RH), Banthra, Shahjahanpur, observed World Environment Day on June 5, 2026, with a series of educational and awareness activities aimed at promoting environmental protection, sustainable living, and public health awareness.
According to a circular issued by the department, World Environment Day is celebrated globally every year on June 5 to encourage collective action for environmental conservation. In line with this objective, the department has planned several activities involving students, faculty members, healthcare professionals, and the community.
The theme for World Environment Day 2026 is “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”
As part of the observance, a seminar on World Environment Day was conducted in the Department of Community Medicine at 4:00 Pm, with Dr. Charandeep singh dua serving as the presenter and Dr. Aditya Prakash Singh as the moderator.
A plantation drive was organized across the college campus at 11:00 AM in which Dr Dharmdendra, Dr Purva shoor, Dr Aditya prakash encouraging active participation from faculty members and students with planting trees in hospital campus. Simultaneously, an environmental awareness video display was arranged in the patient waiting area under the supervision of Dr. Atul Saxena.
In addition, awareness activities focusing on environmental health and pollution prevention was conducted at the RHTC and UHTC centres, coordinated by interns under the guidance of Dr. Ajay Agarwal.
The initiative seeks to enhance understanding of environmental challenges and inspire responsible practices that contribute to a healthier and more sustainable future.
Dr. Dharmendra Kumar Gupta, Professor and Head, Department of Community Medicine, has encouraged all students and faculty members to actively participate in the programmes and contribute to the success of the observance.
