A Visit to Remember: Varun Arjun University’s Engagement with Vinoba Bhave Ashram

On 3 February 2026, the Pro-chancellor of Varun Arjun University, Dr. Ashok Kumar Agarwal, and Vice chancellor Dr. Kiran Agarwal do an official visit to Vinoba Bhave Ashram. The guests were warmly welcomed upon arrival by Ashram sansthapak Ramesh Bhaiya Ji.
During the visit, the “Ahimsa Library (Extension)” established in the ashram premises was formally inaugurated by Dr. Ashok Kumar Agarwal and Dr. Kiran Agarwal. The library is dedicated to literature based on Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of non-violence, morality, and human values, and is intended to promote positive and peaceful thought in society.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Hon’ble Principal and Dean Dr. R. N. Shukla, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Dharmendra kumar Gupta (Head, Department of Community Medicine), and Dr. Raghav (PG, Community Medicine).
During the program, various speakers shared their views on important topics—
Dr. Ashok Kumar Agarwal spoke about the rising threat of alcoholic liver disease, its major causes, symptoms, and the importance of timely diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. Kiran Agarwal highlighted the importance of village development and the role of health, education, and community participation.
Principal Dr. R. N. Shukla emphasized the need for hepatitis awareness, timely testing, vaccination, and public education.
Dr. Dharmendra kumar Gupta explained preventive measures for liver diseases in simple language, stressing balanced diet, de-addiction, hygiene, safe drinking water, and vaccination.
Information was also shared about the current medical facilities, healthcare services, and the social role of Varun Arjun Medical College and Hospital.
At the end of the visit, the dignitaries toured the old age home located within the ashram, where around 100 elderly residents were present. The guests interacted warmly with them and discussed their health, social, and emotional concerns. Special emphasis was laid on the respect, care, and social inclusion of senior citizens.
