Varun Arjun University Champions Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam with Mega Padyatra & Tech Campaign

On April 16, 2026, Varun Arjun University in Banthara, Shahjahanpur, organized a series of large-scale events to promote awareness for the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, 2023. Following directives from the Uttar Pradesh government, the university conducted a grand “Padyatra” (procession) and a comprehensive awareness rally led by Nodal Officer Dr. Shivani Gupta. Students and faculty marched with national flags and slogans to celebrate the historic legislation that mandates a one-third reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies. The event featured insightful sessions where speakers emphasized how this law bridges the gender gap in political representation and empowers women at every level of governance.
The university also integrated technology into its outreach through an innovative “missed-call” campaign, where 655 participants registered their support by calling a dedicated mobile number. High-ranking officials, including Deputy Registrar Dr. Anil Kumar Pal and Dr. Purnima S. Bhatt, lauded the initiative as a revolutionary step toward changing societal mindsets. This event is part of the university’s ongoing commitment to gender sensitivity and national missions like “Mission Shakti.” By involving students as active advocates for constitutional rights, Varun Arjun University has set a benchmark for how educational institutions can drive meaningful social change and political inclusivity.
Day2

The two-day event at Varun Arjun University, Shahjahanpur, celebrating the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam 2023, emphasized the pivotal role of education and legislative representation in empowering women. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Kiran Agarwal inaugurated the program, highlighting that education is the primary tool for making women self-reliant and capable of participating in national policy-making. Key speakers, including IQAC Head Dr. Purnima S. Bhatt and Nodal Officer Dr. Shivani Gupta, provided historical context and detailed the act’s provisions, which aim to secure women’s rightful place in legislative bodies. The academic leadership collectively stressed that political representation is not merely a statistic but a vital medium for social transformation.
​The celebration was marked by high energy and creative participation from students and faculty across various departments, including Nursing, Pharmacy, and Allied Health Sciences. A major highlight was the formation of a massive human chain across the campus, symbolizing unity and equality. Additionally, a moving poetry session by Forensic Science students and a successful signature campaign further cemented the university’s commitment to the cause. Managed efficiently by Administrative Officer Shri Lalit Kumar Chauhan, the event concluded with a strong message of solidarity, positioning the university as a proactive leader in the movement toward a more equitable and empowered society for women.
