Indian Knowledge System (IKS) E-Poster Competition – Student SeriesTheme: “Connecting with Traditional Practices”

Varun Arjun University, through its Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) Committee in coordination with NEP SAARTHIs, organized the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) E-Poster Competition – Student Series under the theme “Connecting with Traditional Practices.” The programme was conducted at Varun Arjun Medical College & Rohilkhand Hospital from 21st to 28th February 2026, in alignment with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, encouraging students to explore the relevance of traditional knowledge systems in modern medical science.
The programme saw enthusiastic participation from students ranging from First MBBS to Internship, reflecting active academic engagement across different stages of medical education. More than 20 E-posters were submitted by students from various departments, each highlighting unique concepts of Indian Knowledge Systems and their connections with contemporary medicine.Many posters presented interesting correlations between traditional concepts and modern medical science. Topics included Shat Kriya Kala with stages of pathology, Nadi Parikshan with pulse examination, and Twak Sharira with the anatomical layers of skin. Other presentations explored themes such as probiotics in traditional diet and the relationship between Chakras and the neuroendocrine system, demonstrating the interdisciplinary relevance of traditional health knowledge.
Students presented their E-posters before fellow students and faculty members, creating an engaging academic environment. The presentations were followed by interactive discussions and question-answer sessions, which stimulated curiosity and encouraged critical thinking. The activity generated significant interest among students and helped them appreciate the relevance of traditional medical wisdom in contemporary clinical practice.

At the conclusion of the event, the best posters were recognized and awarded. Kanishka Antil (2023 batch) secured the First Prize, while Shreya Sharma and Lavanya Verma (2025 batch) received the Second Prize. The Third Prize was jointly awarded to Ranveer Singh and Reshant Sharma (2024 batch) and Dr. Souvik Chakraborty and Dr. Rajshree Parashar (MBBS Interns).

The event was coordinated by Dr. Poornima S. Bhat, NEP SAARTHI Coordinator of VAU, along with NEP SAARTHI students Mr. Giriraj Kirtee and Miss Sandhya Rani Gope. The programme was appreciated by Dr. Keshav Agarwal (Chancellor, VAU), Dr. Ashok Agarwal (Pro-Chancellor, VAU), Dr. Lata Agarwal (Vice-Chancellor, BIU) and Dr. Kiran Agarwal (Vice-Chancellor, VAU). Academic support was extended by Dr. (Col.) R. N. Shukla, Dean & Principal, VAMC & RH, while Dr. Anil Kumar Pal, Deputy Registrar of VAU, also appreciated the students’ efforts.
The programme highlighted the importance of reconnecting with India’s traditional knowledge heritage while integrating it with modern scientific understanding.
