Varun Arjun University, through Varun Arjun Medical College & Rohilkhand Hospital, Shahjahanpur, successfully organized a Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training Programme for all hospital employees on 5 August 2026. The programme was efficiently coordinated by Dr. Shivani Gupta, Quality Manager, with the objective of equipping healthcare professionals and support staff with essential life-saving skills required during medical emergencies.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. (Col.) R. N. Shukla, Dean & Principal, who welcomed the expert trainers, Dr. (Squadron Leader) Suneet Gupta, MD (Anaesthesiology) and Dr. Pradeep Tandon, MCh (Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery), by presenting them with shawls, bouquets, planters, and mementoes. In his inaugural address, Dr. Shukla emphasized the critical importance of timely and effective CPR in saving lives and highlighted the need for regular emergency response training among all hospital personnel.
The expert faculty conducted comprehensive sessions covering recognition of cardiac arrest, initial patient assessment, activation of the emergency response system, high-quality chest compressions, rescue breathing, airway management, safe use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and current BLS and CPR protocols. Extensive hands-on practical training was also provided using CPR mannequins, enabling participants to practice essential skills under expert supervision and receive individualized guidance and feedback.
The training programme was attended by Dr. Deepak Chaturvedi, Deputy Medical Superintendent; Mr. Lalit Kumar Chauhan, Administrative Officer; faculty members; nursing staff; paramedical personnel; housekeeping staff; security personnel; technicians; ward attendants; and other support staff.
At the conclusion of the programme, Dr. (Col.) R. N. Shukla appreciated the excellent coordination by Dr. Shivani Gupta and acknowledged the efforts of Varun Arjun University in promoting competency-based training and patient safety. He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to conducting regular skill-based training programmes to strengthen patient safety, emergency preparedness, and the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.
