Day9: SWASTH NARI, SASHAKT PARIVAR ABHIYAN: Joint Awareness Program on Eye, ENT, and Dental Diseases

A special joint awareness program on the day 9 of “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan – 2025”, was held on September 25, 2025, at the Varun Arjun Medical College & Rohilkhand Hospital under Varun Arjun University, Shahjahanpur.
Campaign Summary
The main goal was to raise awareness among women and the public about the importance of timely diagnosis and treatment for Eye, ENT, and Dental diseases. The event was held in the OPD waiting area and saw high attendance from patients, students, and faculty.
Principal and Dean, Dr. (Col.) Ravindra Nath Shukla, emphasized that the woman is the pivot of any family and her health determines the health of the community. He noted that women often neglect their health due to busy lifestyles, leading to serious illnesses.
Specialists provided detailed guidance:
* Dr. (Col.) Girish Mishra (Eye) and Dr.Vandana Mishra stressed regular eye check-ups for issues like cataracts and glaucoma (the “Silent Thief of Sight”), especially for women over forty.
* Dr. Santhanan Krishnan and Dr. Poornima S. Bhat (ENT), Dr.Shradha agarwal (AP) highlighted common issues like sinus, hearing loss, and voice box diseases, advocating for healthy habits and timely intervention.
* Dr.Priya Mishra and Dr. Pooja Bhalla (Dentistry Department) focused on oral hygiene and the early signs of oral cancer, urging people not to ignore small sores or pain.
The program featured a special counseling desk and active participation from MBBS students and interns, who offered health advice. The university management affirmed its commitment to continue such public welfare initiatives in the future.
