Global Handwashing Day Awareness Program at Varun Arjun Medical College, Shahjahanpur

The Department of Microbiology at Varun Arjun Medical College & Rohilkhand Hospital, Shahjahanpur, organized an awareness program on the occasion of Global Handwashing Day. The objective of this program was to raise public awareness about the importance of hand hygiene and cleanliness.

On this occasion, poster exhibitions and street plays (Nukkad Natak), based on the importance of handwashing and hygiene, were presented by MBBS third-year students. The students’ presentations successfully raised awareness among the audience about the significance of hand hygiene and motivated them to take practical steps in this direction.

The event was graced by the presence of the Dean and Principal, Dr. Colonel R. N. Shukla, Medical Superintendent Dr. P. S. Pawar, Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Amit Singh, and Administrative Officer Mr. Lalit Chauhan. Their guidance and inspiration doubled the enthusiasm of the students and organizers.

Dr. Priya and Dr. Khalid from the Department of Microbiology played a crucial role in organizing the program. A special highlight of the event was a lecture given by Dr. Diwan Mahmood, where he shed light on the correct techniques of handwashing and its associated health benefits.

Additionally, PG students—Dr. Suchet, Dr. Rashi, and Dr. Sudhir—were also present and actively participated in the program.

This event was not only successful in educating medical students about the importance of infection control and hand hygiene, but also proved to be a meaningful effort in spreading awareness among the general public. This initiative by the Department of Microbiology was highly appreciated by all the dignitaries present.
