On Thursday, September 26, 2025, Varun Arjun University observed Swachhta Pakhwada (Cleanliness Fortnight) to commemorate the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay.
The campaign saw enthusiastic participation from postgraduate students, pharmacy students, faculty members from various departments, and staff, who joined hands with the commitment to maintain a clean and green campus.
The drive began with teachers, staff, and students cleaning classrooms, laboratories, and campus premises. Extending their efforts beyond the university, students also cleaned nearby open areas. Students of the Medical College and College of Pharmacy played a pivotal role, demonstrating both enthusiasm and responsibility.
As part of the event, students took the Cleanliness Pledge, vowing to spread the message of “Clean India” throughout society and to support government initiatives.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. L.R. Verma motivated students to actively contribute to the mission, while Dr. Ravindra Nath Shukla, Principal and Dean of Varun Arjun Medical College & Rohilkhand Hospital, emphasized that cleanliness is not just about beautifying the external environment but also reflects inner discipline, values, and mindset. Dr. Pradeep Singh, Principal of Varun Arjun College of Pharmacy, stressed the importance of a clean society for nurturing healthy minds.
The campaign was further strengthened by the encouragement of senior university dignitaries, including Chancellor Dr. Keshav Kumar Agarwal, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Ashok Kumar Agarwal, and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Kiran Agarwal. They highlighted that Swachhta Pakhwada is a strong medium to realize the vision of great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay for a clean, healthy, and dedicated India.
